going underground

Well i'm posting this because i'm probably going to go off radar for a while. being aware at the same time that the blog hasn't exactly been on radar. etc. whatever. I've got 8 of my goal of ten new paintings completed. but failing their completion by the end of april i'll post them up anyway. i'm not building hype or anything because i am not. it's just that i want to get some work done before i put it up. i've been showing too much dirty laundry painting wise.

YES.

MR GRAVY

This is MR GRAVY. He's a robot.

This is MR GRAVY sitting on a house and doing some calculations that would confuse even Steven Hawking. like which came first the chicken or the egg. MR GRAVY knows the answer to that question.

This is MR GRAVY out on the town.

oh no MR GRAVY.

Robots

Friday, April 15, 2011

hey that's MISTER gravy.

Well it's been a pretty amazing roller coaster day really. I am incredibly grateful that i have the opportunity to make paintings and ceramics. Been painting like made all day and have finished the 8th painting in my new body of work, which feels like it is coming on quite well, i have a small painting that i am still working on, which is a pro bono commission for my parents. I also have some pro bono illustration that i am doing for someone who asked very nicely and was very respectful. and will probably start painting on the new body of work either later in the weekend or early next week.

Today is...

The first day that I had any feeling that anything I've done art wise has really meant anything. Painted hard all day as a result. Without a break, so now I'm going to have a bit of lunch and try to shake my headache.

And if by magic my art supplies arrived.

you were a waitress in a cocktail bar...

yeah so been painting. got tired of it. it's going fine etc but i am struggling a bit. so i got in bed and watched archer and then realised that i was being annoying so i got back up and got on with my work. broke the back of it really today and should finish tomorrow, as long as i'm feeling in the mood. i've reach peak repetition of steely at the moment. so either i have to listen to family and risk a colour change or just put dan on and drive myself nuts. it's only because i'm only listening to two albums.

Katy lied too much so I'm going to have to apply some pretzel logic.

See what I did there. Painting, not really enjoying back painting today. Feels frustrating and I'm struggling to visualise.

the film is by adam green who is one of my heros. it's not suitable for people who don't like weird or explicit stuff. or under 18's but i really like it and the whole ethos behind it.

photo from when me and jess saw adam in brighton and met him afterwards.

6 is a relevant number.

I've got 6 pieces from my new body of work. I've drawn enough dust piggies to start book six and I'm just under 6 (5.8) months ahead with the publish date. Once I am a year ahead I might feel like more of a champion. Any painting, Which is going well, But tiring. Tomorrow I will be doing ceramics (decoration) in the morning and then dust piggies in the afternoon or painting. I need to map the next 4/6 paintings while at Richards. Then come home and work my ass off.

Citizen Trouser

preface: this post is pretty pointless reading as half way through i change my mind and contradict the first half.

more proof that i am an intolerable liar is that my novel is finished. it won't be published until later and is more a novella than a novel. because it died this evening. which was always the intention. 'creatively' speaking. I'm also reworking my collection of short stories because i want to remove several of them from the collection, because i make excuses for the them. revised texts aren't always purposeful, but this one has basis. i won't change any existing text. just remove the complete shit and the lazy pretentiousness attached to the original printing. Actually i am not going to do that at all. i'm just going to leave it in the past and not count it as a book. that makes more sense. it's out of print and only a few copies exist anymore anyway. so anyway. citizen trouser will probably happen publishing wise.

The first nice dream in ages

Had a lovely dream last night. I won a competition to go and live with Kimya Dawson for a week and we argued loads but eventually we had an awesome time drawing pictures and making music. And it was best dream i've had in ages and I woke up and felt like something had changed it was weird. But i think that's because it was a journey dream, through snow and deserty america. And iy was lovely. I broke my iPhone and it all poured out like jelly. Like that time that photo of Anne Frank came alive.

Omelette

Had a nice omelette.

completed number 5

[which is technically number 6] of the new body of work today. efficiency has slowed. probably due to tiredness. worked briefly for half an hour on my novel and now in bed with sleep as the main plan. i just realised I've been staring at this line for an indeterminable amount of time.

i'm probably going to use this photo for the cover if i ever finish my novel and write the stuff down the side. on the door. and it's going to be about 44,000 words only, because that's the same length as animal farm.

All nighter

Stayed up painting all night, lagged a bit and didn't complete it, but It was a good nights work. Smoked a pipe for a bit and thought I'd run out for red. By the way, why the flip are art shops stopping selling bloody liquitex?? Golden pained grey is blue and i'd like to push every tube of cryla in to a volcano. Seriously that pipe is taking over my personality. If only I could grow a mustache. And i found my red.
