in 15 minutes it is september.

WHICH MEANS... well nothing to get excited about, but my plan is to work my ass off and at the same time i want to detail more in depth than any other month this year (58 is the most so far). so i'm going to do that. maybe.

boring.

was sat in the garage and put some paynes gravy on a painting that i'm 'working on'. the quote marks indicating that i haven't done much work on it because it is a bit of a weird painting and i don't really WANT to do it. but it's in the way of doing the next one. i've literally done very little on it, but i need to work it out of the system before i can move on to different things. i've looked at it intently for over a week and have seen loads of stuff appearing in it and all the bright possibilities, but none of them are honest. they are all however feasible. yet the real painting actually isn't. it's not do-able. as in i can't bring myself to do it. it feel a bit like an exercise in futility. which it really shouldn't be. but then i just painted on the paynes grey and it re-awoke the interest. but i do need to go to bed. so therein lies the dilema. stay up all night doing a painting that is probably pointless, but then moving on to something else, or go to bed and attempt it tomorrow when i'm not in the mood to do it. it's not really a dilema. more melodramatic waffling. i'm going to try and go to bed and not think about it.

My new book

All printed with 32 original illustrations (which you can look at if you don't want to read the words but if due to the nature of illustration, if you don't like the words you won't like the book in picture form).

And it ended up pretty uncooked and then Jess saved it. And we had a great meal. No thanks to this bastard.

Plus he got a mbe or obe and for what? Making kids eat better? I could make kids eat better if I had a car, some salad and a baseball bat.

Which is probably good because otherwise i'd never have anything to finish trying to do. did some dust piggies today. not many. in a down patch re: painting, drawing and writing. but i'm on fire regarding washing up, hurt stomach muscles and hot water bottles. so if anyone needs someone to sit in their house with a hot water bottle and being sarcastic then make your cheques out to me.

seriously though. next week i'm hitting the ceramics again and will also get back to painting asap.

Coloured 101 new dust piggies. They were very colour intensive, and it took a while. A long while. Might start drawing some more this afternoon if my hand comes back to life.

Colouring dust piggies

Once again absorbed by an overwhelming sense of failure as I have failed to colour all the dust piggies. 101 is a lot to colour especially when most of then are detailed and or in rooms which need wall paper etc. But still I wanted to blast 101 out but have 48 left to do. Which is frustrating. Ah well. While painting isn't happening I will have to continue ploughing through the piggies. Then if I can do another 65 then I might have a years worth done. Which would be quite cool. The 65 days do make a difference.

Unsuccessful.

Today was unsuccessful. I started painting at 8.30 am and achieved nothing.

Today

Painting. We did battle for many hours. Then once complete I invented a new salad (pictured below) called the 'chicken egg caesar chip salad' it is vastly unhealthy. But delicious.

Did the 32 illustrations on postcards. Scanned, photoshopped them, placed and orientated them in the book. Which is now finally finished. So in all I've done loads today. Probably won't make any books for a while now after this months book orgy.

Up early tomorrow to do painting... Probably.

Well typical

Now I'm wondering if I should illustrate CT, it's print ready but NO. of course not. That's far too simple. No, now I want to illustrate a fairly un illustratable book in a very short space of time. I could probably do it pretty quickly if I got on with it, but I am just frustrated with myself that it's got to this point before the decision as actually become an idea.

status report

WELL. i've finally finished my magnum opus: The Inimitable life of Citizen Trouser. So that's nice. Packaged up some cubes to send to a gallery. got a bit silly with the fragile tape. I got 101 dust piggies drawn this weekend. which is nice. i over did the coffee to early to get my jobs done and now i'm having a bit of a crash. which is a bit rubbish. need to continue with some painting, but haven't started yet.

But this video is the most important visual aid in any argument that reasons that you cannot make anything new or original. When someone says everything has been done before then you should sit them down with a biscuit and make them watch the ENTIRE video.

Post a rather lack lustre post about writing a big moan. this is it. you are reading it. I am having a dust piggies illustrate a thon at the moment. i did 30 today, but i want to get 100 done by monday, so i'm on target if NOTHING HAPPENS AT ALL this weekend. i like to be nearly a year ahead on the piggies. and it's good if i get into the zone a bit with them. then more ideas happen and the jokes et all are generally better. but who know what will happen. more to the point who care? Do you?

It was my dad's birthday so jess and I made a banner and a cake. Which was fun. I liked baking. It was for 50 people and it was huge. And apparently the sponge, quote "was as light as air".
