carpet monsters (2009)
when i was a little boy i had really bad insomnia. which my dad will testify because he used to sit up playing trains with me in the middle of the night. but if i did fall asleep i had repeating nightmares about monsters from the carpet on the hall in our old house. they would chase me around the village and sing a song about eating me in their own strange language that i could understand. it was the scariest song ever and i'd always hear them coming because of their song.
biscuit fired cubes
they survived the biscuit firing, the colours are coming about more, so it's easier to see what will happen with them eventually. i'm very excited about them, and quite overcome with how much i enjoyed decorating them.
in and out the river (2009)
This was the last current seagull painting which i mentioned in an earlier post. now photographed and on here.
thanks for that dr miriam stoppard.
i'm having a little break for painting at the moment. i want (and will continue) to paint all the time, but expectation of myself is making things feel very forced and contrived. i get feed back from people and then aimed to please them again with the next thing, but it works as a network with all the different people who say things. it's people pleasing at it's worst for me. painting by committee, when the people on the committee don't even know what language you speak.
i am going to have a break from painting in the sense of doing anything specific or goal-orientated. i want to make some paintings where i regress and deconstruct my imagery. make more reactionary work. i also want to paint some classical(ish) nudes. and i want to take some time thinking of a new project to focus on now that i've completed the seagull project.

i used to have nightmares
about these creatures who would come out of the patterns of our carpet at the house at briar hill. they would chase me around the village trying to eat me. i did these paintings spontaneously the other night when i was half asleep. i only recognised who they were the following day.
at the market (2009)
this is probably the last of the sea gull paintings for now. i've got one other that isn't photographed yet. but i won't be painting anymore (at least for a bit).

the mighty fishing expedition
we lost a lure, a weight and a float to ye briney deep (but i did manage to retrieve the float). the sun was beautiful. the weather was glorious. i did end up going in the sea, which was fairly predictable and we walked 'about half a mile at the most'. which later was conceded to be about 2 miles. had a good bit of lunch, some cups of tea, which was awesome. and 2 of those 4 stick kit kats
we didn't catch any fish.
and it was awesome.
some stuff from my phone.
cube painting, mac dons, tea and toast, curry. i don't really have anything else to add on the subject really.

i am incredibly tired.
technically i have fulfilled my brief that i set for myself of making 30 seagull paintings. i thought i'd finished with it, but today i did the phone box one, which i enjoyed and it opened up a mass of territory that i haven't really covered with the project thus far (ha). i also enjoyed some of the sillier paintings and might do some more around those kind of themes. i dunno. i'm also working on some more 'classical' stuff. but i'm not 100% sure about those. i'll probably attempt to finish them anyway, but it's very heavy going and i'm not (as i said before) 100% sure about them.
i'm exhausted. painted for about 7 hours today. 2 hours / lunch/ 3 hours/ tea / 2 hours / bed and i might have some toast. i have a hankering for some toast and apricot jam and a cup of tea. i need to look into making a bigger mug to have a mighty bucket of tea from. i always make a cup and then i get really into it and it's over. and my milk goes out of date tonight, so i'll go and make a big cup of tea before it goes off at midnight.
seagull dreaming in the moonlight (2009)
this painting is about a seagull who walks in the moon light and imagines a space seagull wandering down from the moon on a path of hard dust.

news from the avant-garde of film making...
This is a screen shot from the title sequence of 'the Marvin Halmark movie'. Currently the CGI budget is spiralling as the scope for computer based animation and post production work increases, whereas the principle stop frame work, currently being undertaken by Cherry Red films, is going at a remarkably efficient rate. Time restraints may result in mcrancid films resuming total control of the production in the long term, but currently the rushes are encouraging.
