note to self

If you want to sound smart/more "deep" than you actually are then make references to obscure/controversial books and don't actually explain how your work is actually connected to them. or pick a really depressing subject and don't actually say that is what your work is about, just make allusions to it.

classic example:

"sigh, yeah, this piece is about some stuff that happened in europe in the 1930-40s" *look out the window and sigh* "people are so stupid sometimes, sigh"


"yeah this work is about my struggles growing up as a poverty stricken african american woman" *serious face* -- "um but mike..."

you get my point anyway. i'm tired.

these paintings are about solitude as described in the book "see dog run" and are influenced by some weighty religious text that i've not read, but i did google it for quotes, which is like the same thing.
