paper sax (2009)

this painting is of a paper saxophone, being an idea, and a played clarinet. and while the clarinet is solid and making sound, the paper saxophone is a promise and a little hopeful gasp. but it's really not as literal and linear as i'm making it sound.

i listened to a recording of harry fulcher playing saxophone for some of the reference.
